ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
The honest conversation most designers never get to have.
Running an interior design studio is one of the most creatively fulfilling things you can do. It's also one of the loneliest. The industry is full of people who look like they have it figured out and very few who will tell you the truth about what it actually takes.
I spent eighteen years in the police before I launched my studio. When I left a career built on structure, accountability, and people who had each other's backs I wasn't prepared for the silence on the other side. Nobody talked about the hard stuff. Pricing that made no sense. Clients who pushed every boundary. Contracts that left you exposed. Employees who tested everything you had and some who were the making of the studio.
I learnt it all the hard way, over fourteen years of running Usher & Co. And then I made a decision: I wanted to leave this industry better than I found it.

The Usher Standard
Every Principals Programme is underpinned by The Usher Standard which is a proprietary framework for building services and pricing that are logical, defensible and genuinely profitable. Developed over fourteen years of running a design studio, it is the foundation everything else is built on.
THE STRUCTURE
What working together looks like.
The programme runs over 6 months typically 10 to 14 sessions of 60 minutes each, paced to give you time to implement between sessions. Because the work you do between sessions is where the real change happens.
Sessions are one-to-one, private, and completely tailored to your studio. There is no group, no cohort, no one-size-fits-all approach. Everything we cover is specific to you, your market, and where you want to go.
At the close of each phase you receive a written document prepared by Rachel, specific to your studio that records what was agreed, what has changed, and what comes next. These are yours to keep and build on.
AFTER THE PROGRAMME OPTIONAL CHECK-INS
Optional check-in sessions are available every 3–6 months at £350 + VAT per session. A chance to recalibrate, troubleshoot something new, or have a sounding board when a significant decision arrives. No obligation, no retainer, just access when you need it.
